Health and fitness disclaimer

Version 0.1. All documents

Fortified Fuel Fitness & Nutrition, operated by Jeff Beck, Daphne, Alabama

Version 0.1, September 2026. Under review.

Read this first

This is the document that matters most for your safety. It takes about ten minutes. Please read it before you start any program, follow any meal plan, or take advice from the AI coach.

The short version:

  • Coach Jeff is a fitness coach. He is not a doctor.
  • Nothing on this platform is medical advice.
  • Talk to your doctor before you start, especially if you have a health condition, take medication, or are pregnant.
  • Exercise can hurt you. You choose the weights, you use good form, you stop when something is wrong.
  • The AI coach is software. It can be wrong. It cannot see you. Nobody is watching it live.
  • If you are in an emergency, call 911. Do not message the app.

The rest of this document explains each of those points in more detail. When you tick the boxes at the end (Section 19), you are confirming you have read and understood it.

1. Definitions

1.1 "Fortified Fuel", "we", "us" and "our" mean Fortified Fuel Fitness & Nutrition.

1.2 "Coach Jeff" or "Jeff" means Jeff Beck, the person who runs Fortified Fuel and provides the human coaching.

1.3 "You" and "member" mean the person who holds the account and uses the Platform.

1.4 "Platform" means the Fortified Fuel website at fortifiedfuel.fitness, the installable app (PWA), the AI coach, the workout logger, nutrition plans, meal plans, check-ins, progress tracking, the community feed, messaging, push notifications, text messages, voice notes, emails, and anything else we deliver to you as part of your subscription or purchase.

1.5 "AI coach" means the automated coaching assistant built into the Platform. It is software that runs on a large language model from our AI model provider (currently Anthropic) and is set up to reflect Jeff's coaching methods.

1.6 "Content" means every program, plan, meal, recipe, swap, target, video, voice note, message, post, badge, article, chart, number or piece of advice you get from the Platform, whether it comes from Jeff, from the AI coach, from another member, or from a vendor.

1.7 "Terms" means the Fortified Fuel Terms of Service. This Disclaimer is part of the Terms (see Section 20).

2. Who Coach Jeff is, and who he is not

2.1 Jeff Beck is a fitness and nutrition coach. His role is to help generally healthy adults train, eat and build habits in a way that fits a hard working life.

2.2 Jeff is not:

  • a physician, nurse, physician assistant or any other licensed medical provider;
  • a registered or licensed dietitian;
  • a physical therapist, chiropractor, athletic trainer or occupational therapist;
  • a psychologist, counsellor, therapist, or any other licensed mental health professional.

2.3 Because Jeff is not any of those things, he cannot and will not diagnose a condition, treat an illness or injury, prescribe or adjust medication, order or read lab tests, design a diet to manage a disease, or provide therapy. If you need any of those things, you need a licensed professional, and we will tell you so.

2.4 A note about nutrition titles. In many states, including Alabama, "dietitian" and in some cases "nutritionist" or "nutrition counselling" are licensed titles that only a person with a state license may use. Jeff does not hold that license and does not use those titles. What Fortified Fuel provides is general fitness and nutrition guidance for healthy adults: how to structure meals, hit a protein target, swap one food for another, and eat in a way that supports training. It is not medical nutrition therapy, which means designing a diet to treat or manage a medical condition. If you have a condition that affects what you should eat (for example diabetes, kidney disease, celiac disease, a heart condition, or a history of an eating disorder), you need a licensed dietitian or your doctor for that, not us.

3. Not medical advice

3.1 Coaching is not medical advice. The AI coach does not diagnose, prescribe, or make medical claims.

3.2 Nothing on the Platform is medical advice, a medical opinion, a diagnosis, a treatment, or a substitute for seeing a doctor. That includes every program, meal plan, calorie or macro target, message from Jeff, message from the AI coach, voice note, community post, badge, chart or vendor product.

3.3 Do not use the Platform to decide whether to see a doctor, whether to take or stop a medication, or whether a symptom is serious. If you are unsure, see a doctor.

3.4 Do not ignore or delay getting medical advice because of something you read or heard on the Platform.

4. Talk to your doctor before you start

4.1 Before you start any training program or change how you eat based on the Platform, we strongly recommend you speak to your doctor. This is true for everyone, even if you feel fine.

4.2 You must speak to your doctor first, and follow what they tell you, if any of the following applies to you:

  • heart disease, a heart condition, chest pain, or a family history of early heart disease;
  • high blood pressure;
  • diabetes or pre-diabetes;
  • joint problems, back problems, or any past injury that still bothers you;
  • surgery in the past twelve months, or surgery planned;
  • you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or have given birth in the past twelve months;
  • you are breastfeeding;
  • a history of an eating disorder or disordered eating;
  • you take any medication that affects your heart rate, blood pressure, weight, appetite or blood sugar, including GLP-1 medications (such as semaglutide or tirzepatide), beta blockers, stimulants, thyroid medication, insulin or diuretics;
  • you are under a doctor's care for any condition, physical or mental;
  • you get dizzy, faint, or short of breath with light activity;
  • you are over 40 and have not exercised regularly in the past year;
  • anything else that makes you think you should check first. If in doubt, check.

4.3 If your doctor tells you to limit or avoid certain exercise or certain foods, their instruction wins over anything on the Platform. Tell Jeff what the limits are so your program can be adjusted (see Section 6).

5. Your self-screening statement

5.1 When you sign up, and again at any time we ask you to, you will be asked to confirm the following. Read each line and only confirm it if it is true for you.

I confirm that, to the best of my knowledge:
  1. No doctor has ever told me that I have a heart condition and that I should only do physical activity recommended by a doctor.
  2. I do not feel pain in my chest when I do physical activity.
  3. In the past month I have not had chest pain when I was not doing physical activity.
  4. I do not lose my balance because of dizziness, and I do not lose consciousness.
  5. I do not have a bone, joint or back problem that could be made worse by a change in my physical activity.
  6. A doctor is not currently prescribing me medication for blood pressure or a heart condition.
  7. I am not pregnant, and I have not been told by a doctor to avoid exercise.
  8. I am not currently in treatment for an eating disorder, or if I am, my treatment team has agreed that I can use a fitness and nutrition coaching platform.
  9. I know of no other reason why I should not do physical activity.
If I cannot confirm every line above, I will speak to my doctor before I start and I will tell Coach Jeff what my doctor said.

5.2 If any line is not true for you, that does not mean you cannot use the Platform. It means you need to see your doctor first, get their go-ahead, and tell Jeff what limits apply. Jeff may ask you to confirm you have done that before he starts or continues your coaching (see Section 17).

5.3 Your answers are based on what you know. We rely on them. If something changes later (a new diagnosis, a new medication, an injury, a pregnancy), you need to update us. See Section 6.

6. Pre-existing conditions and injuries

6.1 Tell Jeff about any injury, condition, limitation, medication or surgery that could affect how you train or eat. Do it at intake, and do it again whenever something changes. You can do this through the check-in, the in-app messaging, or the intake questions.

6.2 Jeff adjusts programs based on what you tell him. He cannot adjust for what you do not tell him.

6.3 Jeff cannot see you train. This is online coaching. He is not in the room, he does not watch your sets, and he cannot check your form in real time. He works from your logs, your check-ins, your messages and, if you send them, your videos and photos. That is a real limit on what he can catch. You are the person watching your own form and your own body.

6.4 If you have a condition or injury that needs a professional to design your training around it (for example post-surgical rehab, a herniated disc, a heart condition), get that professional's plan first. Jeff can work within limits a professional gives you. He cannot replace that professional.

7. Nutrition plans, meal plans and meal swaps

7.1 Nutrition plans, meal plans and the one-time meal plan product are general guidance for healthy adults who want to eat in a way that supports their training and goals. They are not designed for, and should not be used to manage, any medical condition.

7.2 Meal swaps are suggestions. When the Platform offers a swap (one food or meal for another), it is a suggestion based on rough nutritional similarity. It is not a guarantee that the swap is right for you.

7.3 Allergies and intolerances are your responsibility. The Platform does not know your allergies unless you tell it, and even if you have told it, it can still suggest a food that contains something you cannot eat. Before you eat anything suggested by the Platform, check the ingredients yourself. If you have a serious allergy, treat every suggestion as unchecked until you have read the label.

7.4 Calorie and macro targets are estimates. Your calorie, protein, carbohydrate and fat targets are calculated from formulas that use your reported weight, height, age, activity and goals. The nutritional values of foods come from public databases, currently USDA FoodData Central and FatSecret. These sources are widely used, but they contain errors, they lag behind product reformulations, and portion sizes vary. Your targets and the numbers on any meal can be wrong, sometimes by a lot. Use them as a starting point, watch how your body responds, and tell Jeff.

7.5 Any plan that involves eating less than you currently do, or eating a lot more, should be discussed with your doctor first, especially if you are on medication that affects appetite, blood sugar or weight.

7.6 Food photographs. If you photograph your meals, the Platform may use the photo to help log the food. This is an estimate based on what is visible in the picture. It cannot see what is under the surface, how something was cooked, or how much oil, sugar or salt went in. Treat the result as a rough guess.

8. Supplements and vendor products

8.1 Jeff may mention supplements, and the Platform may show products from third-party vendors that Jeff has approved through our vendor intake process.

8.2 Dietary supplements are not evaluated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for safety or effectiveness before they are sold. Any statement about what a supplement does has not been evaluated by the FDA, and no supplement is intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

8.3 Check with your doctor or pharmacist before you take any supplement, especially if you take any medication. Supplements can interact with medications and with each other.

8.4 Vendor products are made and sold by the vendor, not by Fortified Fuel. The vendor is responsible for its product, its labels, its ingredients and its claims. When Jeff approves a vendor to appear on the Platform, that means he has chosen to feature them. It does not mean Fortified Fuel has tested or verified the product. Read the vendor's own terms and warnings before you buy.

8.5 Jeff does not sell prescription medication and will not tell you to take, stop or change any prescription.

9. Pregnancy and postpartum

9.1 If you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or have given birth in the past twelve months, speak to your doctor or midwife before you use any training program or nutrition plan on the Platform, and follow what they tell you.

9.2 The programs and calorie targets on the Platform are not designed for pregnancy or for the postpartum period. Calorie targets in particular may be too low for pregnancy or breastfeeding. Do not follow a fat-loss target while pregnant or breastfeeding unless your doctor has approved it.

9.3 Tell Jeff if you become pregnant during your subscription. He will adjust or pause your program based on what your doctor has cleared you to do. He is not able to design a pregnancy-specific program and will not pretend to.

9.4 Stop and contact your doctor if you experience any bleeding, dizziness, chest pain, contractions, fluid leakage, or reduced movement of the baby during or after exercise.

10. Eating disorders and disordered eating

10.1 The Platform tracks food, calories, body weight, measurements and progress photos. Those tools are useful for many people. For a person with an eating disorder, or with a history of disordered eating, those same tools can do harm.

10.2 The Platform is not designed for, and should not be used by, anyone who is in active treatment for an eating disorder unless their treatment team has agreed that they can use it. "Treatment team" means the doctor, therapist, dietitian or program treating them.

10.3 If you have a history of an eating disorder, or you notice patterns that worry you (for example skipping meals to "save" calories, feeling panic about the scale, exercising to punish yourself for eating, or hiding food from people around you), do the following:

  • stop following the calorie target;
  • tell Jeff, in as few words as you like, so he can turn off weight and calorie tracking for you or pause your plan;
  • speak to your doctor or a mental health professional.

10.4 Jeff and the AI coach are not trained to treat eating disorders. If you disclose one, the response you get from us will be to refer you to someone who can help, not to try to coach you through it.

10.5 Where to get help. In the United States you can contact the National Alliance for Eating Disorders at allianceforeatingdisorders.com. If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Outside the United States, contact your local health service.

10.6 If you tell the AI coach something that indicates an eating disorder, the AI coach will stop coaching, give you crisis and support resources, and route the matter to Jeff. See Sections 12 and 16.

11. Mental health

11.1 Coaching is not therapy. Jeff is not a therapist, counsellor or psychologist. The AI coach is not a therapist either, and it is not built to be one.

11.2 Training and nutrition affect mood, and Jeff will ask about stress, sleep and how you feel in the weekly check-in. That is part of coaching. It is not mental health care. If you are struggling, tell someone qualified.

11.3 If you are in crisis. If you are thinking about harming yourself or someone else, or you are in a mental health emergency, contact the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988 (United States), or contact your local emergency services. Do not rely on the Platform. Nobody is reading your messages in real time.

11.4 What the AI coach does if it sees a crisis. The AI coach is set up to notice when a message suggests a crisis or a need for professional help. When it does, it will:

  • stop giving coaching advice in that conversation;
  • give you crisis resources, including 988;
  • flag the conversation to Jeff.

We call this the "crisis hold". It is a safety net, not a rescue service. It runs on software that can miss things and can also trigger when nothing is wrong. Jeff will see the flag when he next reviews, which is not instant (see Section 12.4). If you are in danger, use 911 or 988, not the app.

12. The AI coach

12.1 It is software. The AI coach is a computer program running on a large language model. It is set up to sound like Jeff and to follow his methods. It is not Jeff, and it is not a person. When you talk to the AI coach, you are talking to software.

12.2 It can be wrong. Large language models produce answers that sound confident and can still be wrong. The AI coach can give you a bad calorie number, a poor exercise substitution, a wrong fact about a food, or advice that would be fine for most people and wrong for you. Treat what it says the way you would treat a tip from a knowledgeable stranger: useful, not authoritative.

12.3 It does not know what it cannot see. The AI coach only knows what is in your account and what you type. It cannot see your form, your face, your environment, your medical records, or what you did not tell it. It cannot tell if you are in pain, if you are lifting badly, or if the meal in front of you contains an allergen.

12.4 Nobody is watching it live. The AI coach is not monitored in real time. Jeff reviews AI coach conversations on a weekly cycle, alongside check-ins. A conversation you have on Monday might not be seen by a human until the following week. The crisis hold (Section 11.4) flags urgent conversations to Jeff, but "flags" means it puts them in front of him for his next review, not that it wakes him up.

12.5 What the AI coach will not do. The AI coach is set up to refuse the following, and if it ever does any of them, do not follow it and tell Jeff:

  • diagnose any condition;
  • prescribe, recommend or adjust any medication, or tell you to start or stop one;
  • interpret lab results, scans, or any medical test;
  • give advice for a specific medical condition;
  • give advice for pregnancy, an eating disorder, or a mental health condition;
  • make medical claims about any food, supplement or product.

12.6 When the AI coach hits one of those topics, the right response is for it to tell you to speak to a doctor or the relevant professional. If it does something else, that is a fault, and we want to know.

12.7 AI-drafted messages from Jeff. Some replies you get from Jeff in the in-app messaging are first drafted by the AI and then approved by Jeff before they send. Once Jeff approves a message, it is his message and he stands behind it. Voice notes generated in Jeff's voice are labelled as AI-generated and are not a live recording.

12.8 For a full description of the AI coach, what data it uses, and your rights around it, see the Fortified Fuel AI Disclosure. That document and this one are meant to be read together.

13. Progress photos, body weight and measurements

13.1 The Platform lets you upload progress photos and log your weight and measurements. These tools track visible change over time. That is all they do.

13.2 The Platform does not estimate body fat percentage, does not assess your health from a photo or a number, and does not diagnose anything. A photo or a weight trend is not a health assessment and is not a diagnostic tool.

13.3 Weight moves for many reasons that have nothing to do with fat or muscle: water, salt, sleep, stress, the menstrual cycle, medication, and what you ate the night before. A single reading means little. Jeff looks at trends, and so should you.

13.4 If tracking your weight or photographing your body makes you feel worse rather than better, you can turn those features off or stop using them, and you should tell Jeff. See Section 10.

13.5 How photos and body data are stored and who can see them is covered in the Privacy Policy.

14. Results are not guaranteed

14.1 We do not promise that you will lose weight, gain muscle, get stronger, or reach any particular result. Results depend on your starting point, your consistency, your sleep, your stress, your genetics, your health, and how accurately you log. Individual results vary, and some people see little change.

14.2 Testimonials, transformation photos and before-and-after images on the Platform and in our marketing show the real experiences of real members who agreed to share them. They show what those people achieved. They are not a promise of what you will achieve, and they should not be read as typical.

14.3 Nothing in the marketing, on the sales pages, or in the community feed changes this section. If a badge, a post, or a message makes it sound like a result is guaranteed, it is not.

15. Assumption of risk

15.1 Exercise carries a risk of injury. That includes muscle strains, sprains, joint injuries, back injuries, broken bones, dropped weights, falls, fainting, heat illness, dehydration, and in rare cases serious injury, heart attack, stroke or death. Changing how you eat also carries risks, including low blood sugar, dizziness, digestive problems, nutrient deficiencies, and allergic reactions.

15.2 By using the Platform you accept those risks. You understand that Fortified Fuel cannot remove them, and that following a program does not mean the program is safe for you on any particular day.

15.3 You are responsible for:

  • choosing the loads (weights) you lift. The Platform may suggest a number. You decide whether to lift it. If a suggested weight is too heavy, lift less;
  • using proper form. If you are not sure how to do an exercise, learn it with light weight first, or ask Jeff, or skip it;
  • training in a safe space, with equipment that is in good condition and used as intended, with enough room, and with a spotter or safety bars for heavy lifts;
  • warming up and cooling down;
  • stopping when something hurts. Pain is not the same as effort. Sharp pain, joint pain, chest pain, dizziness, or feeling faint means stop now;
  • checking that a substituted exercise or a swapped meal is right for you before you do it or eat it;
  • knowing and respecting your own limits on any given day.

15.4 You confirm that you are physically able to take part in an exercise and nutrition program, or that you have been cleared to do so by a doctor, and that you have answered the self-screening statement in Section 5 truthfully.

15.5 If you train in a gym, that gym's rules and waivers apply too. If you train at home, you are responsible for your space and your equipment.

16. What happens when you disclose something that needs a professional

16.1 Sometimes a member tells us something that is outside what a coach can handle: a new diagnosis, symptoms of an eating disorder, thoughts of self-harm, a serious injury, chest pain during a workout, or a medication change. Here is what happens.

16.2 If you tell the AI coach. The crisis hold (Section 11.4) applies. The AI coach stops coaching in that conversation, gives you resources, and routes the conversation to Jeff for his review.

16.3 If you tell Jeff. Jeff will not try to treat it. His response is to refer you to the right professional (your doctor, a dietitian, a therapist, an emergency service) and to adjust or pause your coaching so that nothing on the Platform works against what that professional tells you.

16.4 Neither Jeff nor the AI coach will offer treatment, therapy or a medical opinion in response to a disclosure. That is the correct response, not a failure of care.

16.5 Jeff reviews routed conversations and messages on his normal weekly cycle. If you need help sooner than that, use Section 18.

17. Pausing coaching pending medical clearance

17.1 Jeff may pause your coaching, or part of it (for example the training program but not the nutrition guidance), if:

  • you disclose a condition, injury, pregnancy, medication or symptom listed in Section 4 or Section 10;
  • the AI coach's crisis hold has been triggered;
  • Jeff has a reasonable concern, based on what you have told him or logged, that continuing could harm you.

17.2 Jeff will tell you why the pause is in place and what he needs from you to restart. That will include confirmation that you have spoken to your doctor and been cleared to continue, plus any limits the doctor set.

17.3 During a pause, your subscription continues unless you cancel it or Jeff agrees otherwise.

17.4 A pause is a safety step, not a punishment, and not a judgement about you. It exists because Jeff cannot see you train and needs to know that a professional who can see you has said it is safe.

18. Emergencies

18.1 If you are having a medical emergency, call 911 (United States) or your local emergency number. Do not message Jeff. Do not message the AI coach. Do not post in the community feed.

18.2 Signs of an emergency during or after exercise include chest pain or pressure, pain spreading to the arm, jaw or back, severe shortness of breath, fainting, confusion, sudden severe headache, weakness or numbness on one side, a suspected broken bone, a head injury, or any injury where you cannot bear weight or move the limb.

18.3 The Platform is not monitored 24 hours a day. Messages, check-ins and AI coach conversations are reviewed by Jeff on a weekly cycle. Push notifications and texts are sent by the Platform to you; they are not a way for you to reach someone in an emergency.

18.4 Keep your phone and an emergency contact within reach when you train, especially if you train alone or lift heavy.

By ticking each box and continuing, you confirm:

  1. I have read the Health and Fitness Disclaimer and I understand it.
  2. I understand that Coach Jeff is a fitness coach, not a doctor, dietitian, physical therapist or mental health professional, and that nothing on this Platform is medical advice.
  3. I understand that I should talk to my doctor before I start, and that I must do so if any of the conditions in Section 4 applies to me.
  4. I have answered the self-screening statement in Section 5 truthfully, and I will tell Jeff if my health, medications or injuries change.
  5. I understand that exercise and changes to my diet carry a risk of injury, including serious injury, and I accept that risk.
  6. I understand that I am responsible for choosing my own weights, using proper form, training in a safe space, and stopping when something hurts.
  7. I understand that meal plans and calorie targets are general guidance and estimates, that they can be wrong, and that checking for allergens and intolerances is my responsibility.
  8. I understand that the AI coach is software, that it can be wrong, that it cannot see me, and that no one monitors it in real time.
  9. I understand that the AI coach will not diagnose, prescribe, interpret lab results, or give advice for a medical condition, and that if it does, I should not follow it.
  10. I understand that coaching is not therapy, that the Platform is not a crisis service, and that in an emergency I will call 911 or 988, not the app.
  11. I understand that results are not guaranteed and that testimonials show other people's results, not a promise of mine.
  12. I understand that this Disclaimer is part of the Terms of Service, including the limitation of liability in the Terms, and that Jeff may pause my coaching until I confirm medical clearance.

20. Relationship to the Terms of Service

20.1 This Disclaimer is part of the Fortified Fuel Terms of Service. When you accept the Terms at checkout, or when you confirm the acknowledgements in Section 19, you accept this Disclaimer.
